Pope calls faith, reason dialogue essential to Human Freedom

Pope calls faith, reason dialogue essential to Human Freedom                                       Look at the photograph covering this note. I felt like Vomiting the moment I saw it. Many of my readers will call my statement blasphemous . Only those who have brains and honesty in their minds and those with a sense of thinking power, that too independent thinking power will see reason in my comment. For others it is simply not possible to think straight as they are intoxicated with a overdose of religious indoctrination and hypocrisy continuously. Karl Marx therefore said religion is the opium of poor man (Common Man) and George Bernard show said “Christianity is a highly organized hypocrisy’’ otherwise where is justification for man who professes  to follow Christ who was born in a manger to a carpenter, can be represented by men who follow Royalty, live like kings and princes, live in Palaces, dress like kings yet vow by poverty and kingdom of heaven  and life after death.

It is high time we reject this pattern, and this hypocritical ways and disrobe these sinful men from their royal attire and live like Jesus Christ.

Vatican City, Nov 8, 2012 / 04:22 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Benedict XVI said cooperation between science and faith is necessary for world peace and man’s destiny, as he addressed the Pontifical Academy of Sciences this morning.

“I am convinced of the urgent need for continued dialogue and cooperation between the worlds of science and of faith in the building of a culture of respect for man, for human dignity and freedom, for the future of our human family and for the long-term sustainable development of our planet,” he said in a speech given Nov. 8 at Clementine Hall.

“Without this necessary interplay, the great questions of humanity leave the domain of reason and truth, and are abandoned to the irrational, to myth, or to indifference, with great damage to humanity itself, to world peace and to our ultimate destiny.”

This morning the Pope received in audience the participants in the Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, which took place Nov. 5-7. The theme was “Complexity and Analogy in Science: Theoretical, Methodological, and Epistemological Aspects.”

About 70 scientists, philosophers, and theologians – most of them members of the academy – participated in the Plenary Session and many are joining in a following Nov. 8-10 working group on “Neurosciences and the Human Person: New Perspectives on Human Activities.”

Archbishop-designate Salvatore J. Cordileone of San Francisco is apologizing for his “error in judgment” and asking forgiveness for the disgrace he brought upon the Church and himself by being arrested for drunk driving.

“I apologize for my error in judgment and feel shame for the disgrace I have brought upon the Church and myself. I will repay my debt to society and I ask forgiveness from my family and my friends and co-workers at the Diocese of Oakland and the Archdiocese of San Francisco, Archbishop Cordileone said in an Aug. 27 statement provided to CNA.
“I pray that God, in His inscrutable wisdom, will bring some good out of this,” he added.

According to the future San Francisco archbishop, the incident occurred after he had dinner in San Diego with some of his friends and a priest friend who was visiting from overseas.

Psychiatrist and past life regression therapist Brian Weiss tells Nona Walia why he firmly believes in the continuity of individual souls.

It was quite by chance that psychiatrist Dr Brian Weiss started believing in past life regression. It was back in the mid-1980s, when he was treating a woman patient. During psychotherapy, he asked her to look into her past when she was a child, but she went back a thousand years to another life, with vivid memories of herself as another person. After successfully treating her, Weiss started researching on the subject and came out with his bestseller Many Lives, Many Masters. Since then, he has written several books, Through Time Into Healing, Only Love is Real, Same Soul, Many Bodies, among others. In his latest book, Miracles Happen, he talks about everyday miracles in people’s lives, which they fail to recognise. “Our rational minds often attempt to minimise or negate the mystical encounters. We forget the power of our experiences. We mustembrace the reality of that event, which is a miracle,” says Weiss. Excerpts from an interview:

Disobedient laity or outdated hierarchy?

Disobedient laity or outdated hierarchy?

KANPUR, (chhotebhai) — Three reports in the Secular Citizen of 10th September caught my attention.  They are “Catholic Church Outdated”, “Pope Compares Disobedient Catholics to Judas”, and “Why are Catholics Good at Football But Bad at Business?”  There is much to be learnt from them.

The first report on the Catholic Church being outdated is based on the interviews given by Cardinal Carlo Martini SJ, the Archbishop of Milan, who passed away recently.  He had observed that the Catholic Church was 200 years behind the times, with big but empty churches, pompous rituals and cassocks!  This Cardinal was reportedly empathetic to condom users, and Divorced and Remarried Catholics (DARCs).  He had advocated a major shakeup in the Church, lest we lose future generations.

In sharp contrast, we have another report comparing disobedient Catholics to Judas.  Here again the “disobedience” referred to is in the area of sexual ethics.  This is an appalling statement from the universal pastor (shepherd).  Who is he modeling himself on? The Pharisees who were sticklers for the unbending Mosaic Law; or on Jesus the Good Shepherd, who was willing to leave the 99 to look for the one lost sheep?  He was the shepherd who was willing to lay down his life for his sheep; rather than abdicate his responsibility, or condemn them to their fate.

Leaders resolve to work for corruption-free Church

Church leaders at the workshop

By Philip Mathew

About 70 church leaders from various denominations gathered in Bangalore to discuss ways to work toward a corruption free Church and society.

The leaders, who belonged to the Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, ecumenical and evangelical backgrounds, resolved to uphold “the highest levels of integrity” in all their financial transactions.

They were participating in a two-day workshop from Sept. 4 in Bangalore on “corruption in Indian churches”.

The event was organized by Transition Network, a movement of Christian business people and professionals founded in 2010 to serve “the top leadership of the Church.”

The leaders said that the mission of the church is to witness the bible, free the oppressed and create a just and corruption-free society.

They asserted that “financial corruption in all its forms is not acceptable to the church and society under any circumstances.”
